😊 Julie Nicholas earned first place and high recommendations at the 2003 Shrewsbury Flower Show with her Can-Can themed floral creations!

In 2003, I entered the Shropshire Horticultural Society’s Shrewsbury Flower Show with two stunning displays. The main theme, “The Can-Can,” inspired me to craft a vibrant arrangement using bold reds, blacks, and greens, perfectly capturing the lively essence of the dance. Her second masterpiece showcased her skill with Gladioli, using the elegant flowers to create a breathtaking, monochromatic design.

Both entries dazzled the judges, earning me first place and high praise for my creativity and craftsmanship.

What’s surprising about me is that l’m a self-taught florist who, along with my husband, runs the entire business ourselves. I takes care of the front of the shop and all the floral designs, while my husband handles SEO, accounting, and deliveries. Together, we ensure every aspect of the business runs smoothly. This dynamic duo brings passion, dedication, and a personal touch to every arrangement I create.

Come on England 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿 🫶🏻

Artificial blossom trees have become all the rage, popping up at weddings, and Instagram feeds. But I have to confess, I’m not a fan. Before you call me a nature snob, hear me out. Yes, they look pristine and require zero maintenance, but there’s something undeniably soulless about them.

Firstly, they lack the authenticity and natural charm of real blossoms. Those perfectly fabric petals might look good from a distance, but up close, they can feel like an aesthetic catfish. There’s no scent, no life—just a perpetual reminder that sometimes, beauty is only petal-deep.

For couples, artificial blossom trees can set a pretty scene but they miss out on the sensory experience that real flowers offer. There’s no gentle rustling in the breeze, no sweet fragrance to evoke memories. Instead, you get a silent, scentless backdrop that might photograph well but falls flat in reality.

Are you a lover or a hater?

I’m definitely in the hater camp here. I believe romance is about the genuine experiences we share, and real flowers with all their imperfections, offer that.
What about you?
Do you prefer the convenience and perfection of artificial trees, or do you crave the authenticity of the real deal?

I’d love to hear your thoughts—are you team authentic or team artificial? Share your views and join the conversation!
